Overview
The University of Twente is a public research university in Enschede, the Netherlands, established in 1961. Known for its “High Tech, Human Touch” approach, the university combines technology, engineering and social sciences within a research-focused learning environment.
The university has over 10,000 students and offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes across engineering, business, behavioural sciences, public policy and digital technologies. Its residential campus is one of the few fully self-contained university campuses in the Netherlands, with academic buildings, student housing, sports facilities and research centres located in one area.

The University of Twente offers student housing both on and around campus, including shared apartments and self-contained rooms.
Through University of Twente Housing Services, non-EEA international students can receive a guaranteed housing offer for their first year, subject to conditions and deadlines. Enschede is generally more affordable than larger Dutch student cities.
Location
The University of Twente is located in Enschede, near the German border in eastern Netherlands. The campus sits between Enschede and Hengelo and is connected to major Dutch cities by rail and bus networks.
Enschede is known for its student-friendly atmosphere, green surroundings and comparatively lower living costs. Amsterdam Schiphol Airport can be reached by train in around two hours.
