Study in Malaysia

Top Universities

Malaysia is one of Asia’s leading study destinations, with public universities, private institutions and international branch campuses of universities from the UK, Australia and beyond, such as Curtin. At a branch campus, you can earn the same degree as students at the home university, often at a lower cost.

Malaysia is also known for twinning and credit transfer programmes, where you start your degree in Malaysia and complete it abroad. Programmes span business, engineering, computing, health sciences and hospitality, are mostly taught in English, and are quality-assured by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).

Campus and Community

Malaysian universities offer modern, purpose-built campuses, many located within education hubs or well-connected cities, with lecture theatres, laboratories, libraries, digital learning resources and dedicated international student support.

Campuses are highly multicultural, welcoming students from across Asia, the Middle East, Africa and beyond, which encourages collaboration and global networking. You can join clubs, societies and leadership activities, and many universities have close links with employers, offering internships and industry projects that give you practical experience alongside your studies.

Life in Malaysia

Malaysia offers international students a balanced, affordable lifestyle, with competitive tuition fees and living costs that are often lower than in other major study destinations. Its mix of Malay, Chinese, Indian and international cultures creates a welcoming, diverse environment, and English is widely spoken, making everyday life straightforward.

On a student pass, you can usually work part-time during semester breaks, subject to conditions. Outside the classroom, you can enjoy world-famous food, explore modern cities such as Kuala Lumpur and Penang, and travel easily across Southeast Asia.

Language Preparation

Because English is the main language used for teaching in Malaysia, universities require proof of English language skills during the application process. These can include:

• IELTS Academic: The most widely accepted English language test across all public and private Malaysian universities
• Duolingo English Test: Actively used for entry at the country’s various established foreign branch campuses

Our team can help you select the right test.
