Overview
OnCampus Munster Technological University offers international students a supported route into one of Ireland's leading technological universities, based in the south-west of the country. Students studying at OnCampus Ireland's Tralee centre, delivered by Castel Education at MTU's Kerry Campus, can progress into a range of MTU degree programmes on successful completion of their pathway studies.
Munster Technological University (MTU) was formed in January 2021 through the merger of Cork Institute of Technology and the Institute of Technology, Tralee, bringing together a strong regional and national presence across the South West of Ireland.
The university now spans six campuses in Cork city and County Kerry, including MTU's Kerry North and Kerry South campuses in Tralee, and has more than 18,000 students in total. MTU places strong importance on connections with industry, equipping graduates with the practical knowledge and skills needed to succeed in fast-paced, high-tech sectors.
Services
Students studying at OnCampus Ireland's Tralee centre have access to easy-to-use learning facilities and a friendly, encouraging staff team who help students settle in quickly and feel part of the community from day one. Joining MTU's Kerry Campus means becoming part of a genuinely international cohort, with peers from more than 40 countries studying across Business, Engineering, Humanities, Science and Healthcare disciplines.
Before progression, OnCampus Ireland's dedicated accommodation and student support teams assist students with the practical and academic transition from foundation study into full degree study at MTU, helping ensure a smooth and well-supported move into university life.
Rankings
Munster Technological University is recognised as one of the most reputed and highly rated technological universities in Ireland, with a strong regional and national presence built on its scale and research output.
Accommodation
Students studying at the OnCampus Ireland Tralee centre are supported through two main accommodation categories: host families and private accommodation. Host family living is strongly recommended, offering a genuine "home from home" experience that supports faster progress in English language competency; all students under 18 are required to live with a host family. Host families are chosen from OnCampus Ireland's vetted network and inspected by the Tralee Accommodation Officer. For students in private accommodation, a college bus service connects nearby apartment complexes to campus for a small daily fare.
Location
MTU's Kerry Campus is based in Tralee, a relatively small town in the scenic south-west of Ireland known for its coastal landscapes and slower pace of life. Student apartment complexes are located within easy reach of the university, with a regular college bus service connecting accommodation to campus, while those living closer to the town centre benefit from easy access to shops and other amenities.
