Overview
SEGi University and Colleges is one of Malaysia’s most established private higher education providers. Originally founded in 1977, it has grown over the decades into a major institution, with its flagship campus located in Kota Damansara. This main campus is known for its unique "colonial-meets-modern" architecture and is designed to accommodate up to 12,000 students.
The university offers a very wide range of programmes, including Medicine, Pharmacy, Engineering, Business, and Creative Arts. One of SEGi’s main strengths is its partnerships with top-tier international universities from the UK and Australia, such as the University of Central Lancashire and the University of Greenwich. This allows students to earn a foreign degree while studying in Malaysia. SEGi is also recognised for its focus on career readiness, being one of the few universities in the country that actively helps students find part-time work during their studies to gain practical experience before they graduate.
Services
SEGi University provides a supportive environment through its International Office, which is the primary point of contact for students from abroad. This office manages everything from student visa applications and renewals to health insurance and airport pick-up services. To help new students settle in, the Student Affairs Division organises comprehensive orientation sessions and cultural exchange events.
Academic and personal support is a priority, with services like the Student Success Centre offering guidance on study skills and time management. For students with specific needs, the Disabled Support Services (DSS) provides individualised help, such as extra time for exams or accessible housing.

SEGi University has achieved significant recognition for its academic quality and international outlook. In the QS World University Rankings 2026, the university is ranked in the #731-740 range globally, placing it among the top 1.5% of universities in the world.
It is also one of only a small number of institutions globally to hold the prestigious QS 5 Stars Plus rating, achieving top marks in categories like Teaching, Employability, and Internationalisation. Regionally, it is ranked #350 in the QS Asian University Rankings, highlighting its status as a leading choice for students across the continent.
Accommodation
SEGi University and Colleges offers both on-campus and off-campus housing to suit different budgets. The SEGi Residence Hall is located directly within the main campus, offering great convenience for students. These rooms are air-conditioned and come with a bed, study desk, and wardrobe. Shared facilities include a cafeteria, laundry room, and a convenience store.
Location
SEGi University and Colleges flagship campus is situated in Kota Damansara, a vibrant and growing suburb of Petaling Jaya, just outside Kuala Lumpur. The location is excellent for students because it is right next to the Kota Damansara MRT Station, which provides a direct and fast connection to the centre of Kuala Lumpur.
The area surrounding the campus is very convenient, with the Tropicana Medical Centre located right next door and plenty of restaurants, supermarkets, and cafes in the Cova Square retail hub. Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) is approximately 60 minutes away by car or taxi, and the area is well-served by public buses and ride-sharing services like Grab.
