Victoria University of Wellington (VUW) has unveiled three new scholarships designed to make world‑class education in New Zealand more accessible to international students.
- The VUW Undergraduate International Scholarship, valued at $15,000, is now available to all new international students entering the first year of a bachelor’s degree and studying full-time on campus.
- High‑achieving students will also benefit from the new International School‑Leaver Excellence Scholarship, worth $10,000. Awarded competitively on academic merit, this scholarship is granted in the second year of study and can be held alongside the Undergraduate International Scholarship, offering additional financial support for strong performers.
- For postgraduate applicants, the VUW Postgraduate International Scholarship provides $10,000 for new international students enrolling in a Master’s degree or Postgraduate Diploma and studying full-time on campus.
These initiatives arrive as VUW strengthens its global reputation. In the 2026 QS World University Rankings by Subject, the university placed 16 subjects in the world’s top 1%, while its overall ranking of #240 globally positions it firmly within the top 2% of universities worldwide.
Students planning to begin later in the year still have time to apply, with Trimester 3 applications closing on 1 September 2026 and classes commencing on 16 November 2026.
With strong rankings, generous scholarships and multiple intake options, VUW continues to grow its appeal among international students considering studying in New Zealand.
