In partnership with the British Council and the GREAT Britain Campaign, Edge Hill University is offering £10,000 scholarships to students in Nigeria, Ghana, and Turkey applying for one-year postgraduate courses in any subject

The GREAT Scholarships 2026 programme, launched by the British Council together with over 60 UK universities, supports postgraduate students from Bangladesh, China, Egypt, Ghana, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Malaysia, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Thailand, Turkey, and Vietnam in accessing world-class UK higher education opportunities. The scholarship programme offers financial support of a minimum of £10,000 to students pursuing one-year postgraduate study in the UK. Students can apply for courses in a range of subjects, at over 60 institutions across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland

This is for September 2026 intake only and scholarships cannot be deferred.

Applications close at 11:59 pm (BST) on Thursday 30 April 2026.

Eligibility

Candidates must:

  • Be a passport holder and resident of Ghana, Nigeria, or Turkey.

  • Have received a conditional or unconditional offer to study a postgraduate taught programme at Edge Hill University for September 2026 entry.

  • Hold a bachelor’s degree equivalent to a 2:1 or higher.

  • Meet the English language requirement for the chosen programme at the time of scholarship application.

  • Be a self-funded student.

  • Not be a recipient of any other scholarship.

  • only full-time, one-year, postgraduate taught programmes delivered at our Ormskirk campus are eligible for the award. For clarity, programmes delivered via our academic partners (either partially or wholly) are not eligible.
