Overview
Wittenborg University of Applied Sciences is an innovative and highly diverse boutique business school located in the Netherlands. Established in 1987, the school has grown from a local college into a truly global institution that supports around 1,500 students across its modern campus locations.
Wittenborg University of Applied Sciences stands out as a unique higher education option because nearly 95% of its entire student population comes from outside the Netherlands, representing more than 100 different nationalities at any one time.
All Wittenborg University of Applied Sciences degree programmes are taught entirely in English within a deeply multicultural environment. Rather than offering a broad mix of subjects, the school focuses purely on management, hospitality, and international business pathways. Wittenborg holds dual programmatic accreditation from the Dutch-Flemish Accreditation Organisation (NVAO) and the Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation (FIBAA), ensuring that your qualification meets strict European and international benchmarks.
With multiple intakes throughout the year, the university allows international students to begin their Bachelor's or Master's degrees at a time that works best for them.
Services
Wittenborg University of Applied Sciences prides itself on an "open door" policy, making it easy for you to reach out to staff members directly whenever you need help. A primary feature of campus life is the Wittenborg Front Desk, which acts as a helpful central contact point to guide you through non-academic tasks like setting up a Dutch bank account, organising medical services, and handling initial city registration.
To keep your studies on the right track, every single student is assigned a dedicated Process Tutor. Your tutor tracks your academic progress on a weekly basis and offers personal coaching to boost your individual well-being. For legal or visa status matters, the Student Registrar works closely with immigration services to assist non-EU students.
Rankings
Nationally, Wittenborg University of Applied Sciences is officially listed as the 52nd top university in the Netherlands by independent evaluation agencies like EduRank. The school is highly valued within Europe for its international student ratio and multicultural teaching style. Its double accreditation from NVAO and FIBAA serves as a major quality benchmark, assuring global corporate recruiters that Wittenborg graduates are highly trained and ready for professional management roles.
Accommodation
The university actively helps students combat the competitive Dutch housing market by operating its own dedicated Wittenborg Housing department. For all newly arriving international package-fee students, Wittenborg provides a convenient housing guarantee for your first 9 to 12 weeks to give you plenty of time to settle into the country.
Location
The primary home of Wittenborg University of Applied Sciences is the safe, green, and welcoming municipality of Apeldoorn, located right in the centre of the Netherlands. The university operates across two main campus facilities in the town: the lively Brinklaan Building near the historic town centre and the quieter Spoorstraat Building. Both properties sit just a short 10-minute walk away from each other.
The local transport infrastructure makes commuting incredibly easy. The Apeldoorn campuses sit within close proximity to major shopping areas, local markets, and cafes. Furthermore, you can walk to the central train station to catch direct rail links to major Dutch transit hubs. International students can travel directly to Amsterdam Central Station and Amsterdam Airport Schiphol in approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes, making arrivals and European weekend trips highly straightforward.
