The National University of Singapore (NUS) is ASEAN’s No. 1 public university for the third year running, while Malaysian institutions hold seven of the top ten private university places.

One of the standout movers is Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU), which climbs from fifth to second among ASEAN private universities. Malaysia also has more institutions in the top 50 of each category than any other country, with 21 private and 16 public universities, while four of Singapore’s five ranked universities feature in the top 50.

This is the largest edition yet, ranking 316 universities across nine ASEAN countries, up from 237 last year. Teaching and learning carries the heaviest weight at 40%, and employability adds 15% for public universities and 20% for private ones. More than 100,000 validated student survey responses also shape the results, so the tables reflect classroom experience and graduate readiness, not research output alone.

For Indian students who rank teaching quality and job readiness highly, that focus makes these results a practical shortlisting tool. NUS and APU also show two distinct routes: a leading public university in Singapore and a top-ranked private university in Malaysia. AppliedEdu will publish its ALL ASIA rankings on 30th November 2026, adding another benchmark before application season.

Rankings work best as a starting point, so compare course content, fees, entry requirements, and intakes alongside them. StudyIn’s counsellors can help you shortlist and apply to partner universities, with support from course selection through to your student visa.

Book a Free Counselling Session

Singapore and Malaysia lead the AppliedEdu ASEAN Rankings 2027, with NUS top among public universities and APU rising to second among private ones.

["post-253103","news","type-news","status-publish","hentry
["GET
