What Is the Structure of the UCAT in 2026?<\/h2>\n

The UCAT is not based on a fixed curriculum. It assesses reasoning and judgement skills that are difficult to teach directly, which is why preparation focuses on technique and timed practice rather than memorising content.<\/p>\n

Since 2025, the UCAT has consisted of four subtests rather than five, after Abstract Reasoning was withdrawn from the test. The current subtests are Verbal Reasoning, which assesses the critical evaluation of written information; Decision Making, which evaluates judgement using complex data; Quantitative Reasoning, which examines numerical problem-solving; and Situational Judgement, which tests understanding of real-world scenarios and appropriate professional behaviour.<\/p>\n

Your Verbal Reasoning, Decision Making and Quantitative Reasoning scores are added together to give a total cognitive score between 900 and 2,700. The Situational Judgement Test is reported separately as a band from 1 (highest) to 4, rather than contributing to that total. What Do the UCAT Subtests Actually Test?<\/h2>\n

This subtest measures your ability to comprehend and draw conclusions from written passages.
