Overview
The Department for Continuing Education is one of the largest departments of the University of Oxford and is based in the adminstrative centre, in Wellington square. Each year it now welcomes more than 15,000 students from all over the world. Courses range from a single day to several years in length. Students may study for pleasure or pursue award-bearing academic courses leading to University of Oxford qualifications. These may include study at certificate, diploma, pre-Master’s, Master’s and DPhil level.
The Department offers two, highly successful, long-established, pre-Master’s programmes for international graduate students preparing to study at leading British universities. Both courses offer a full academic programme supported by intensive English language classes.
Students completing the University of Oxford pre-Master’s courses have gone on to postgraduate study at the universities of Oxford, Cambridge, St Andrews, Bath, Warwick, KCL and LSE.
Undergraduate Advanced Diploma in British and European Studies
This programme last a full academic year (September – June) and offers courses in European and British history, British and European politics, art history, British society, Religion, English literature and modern British cinema. Students also study three terms of academic writing and English language.

Entry Requirements: Strong first degree and a minimum IELTS score of 6.5 (or equivalent).
Foundations of Diplomacy Course
If you are interested in diplomacy and international relations and would like to prepare for your future postgraduate study or practice in this field, you are a perfect candidate for this intensive six-month course; October - March. Subjects studied include diplomacy, international relations, politics and global governance. Students also study two terms of academic writing and English language.
